Jeanne

Baker

Jeanne Bakker knows better than anyone how to design learning experiences that people engage with—and that deliver measurable results.

She studied Psychology and Educational Science, earned an MBA from Harvard Business School, and was already presenting to international groups at the age of 24. But she built her real expertise in practice: in 2008, she founded Brain Bakery and launched the Train the Trainer program, which certifies trainers in the No More Boring Learning method. That program is now in its 16th year.

In 2020, Jeanne was voted L&D Person of the Year. In 2023, her peers voted her Thought Leader in L&D. For two years in a row, she has been included in the line-up of Denkproducties—the largest speakers' platform in the Netherlands—alongside names such as Jonah Berger, Jos Burgers, and Jitske Kramer. Her rating there: 8.70 out of 255 evaluations, the second highest of all speakers.

Jeanne wrote No More Boring Learning (together with Jan-Peter Hoogstrate), Dealing with Dragons, and Everything is Nothing. She produces two podcasts: No More Boring Learning (4.9 stars, 84 reviews) for trainers and L&D professionals, and For Hungry Minds (5 stars, 37 reviews) for anyone who wants to grow smarter.

In addition to all that work, Jeanne lives on a farm in North Holland, surrounded by her partner and a collection of animals. And her coffee? She drinks it with milk.

Why Jeanne?

Because she offers a rare combination of scientific evidence and practical results. Jeanne doesn't design programs that are "fun"—she designs programs that work. Measurable, demonstrable, and energetic.

As a speaker, Jeanne takes the stage at DenkProducties, the largest speaker platform in the Netherlands. There, she scored an 8.70 out of 255 evaluations: higher than Jonah Berger (8.22) and Jos Burgers (8.34). She translates brain science into concrete insights that you can apply the very next day.

As a trainer of trainers—The Brain Bakery Train the Trainer program has been running for 16 years. Trainers who complete it are certified in the No More Boring Learning method and design learning experiences that have a demonstrable impact. Not "a little better," but fundamentally different.

As a designer of learning experiences, Jeanne creates tailor-made programs for organizations. Online, live, or a combination of both. Always with measurable goals set in advance, and always with the question: will participants actually do something differently as a result?

Working with Jeanne means you know what you're getting: someone who knows the science, understands the practice, and makes the difference between "we had a training session" and "something has really changed."

Dealing with Dragons

Everyone has someone around them who acts like a Dragon. An annoying, narcissistic and, above all, irritating person. Someone who makes the hairs on the back of your neck stand up as soon as you hear his voice. How do you deal with this? Do you avoid the person as much as possible? And what do you do when it comes to your boss? Or the colleague with whom you work a lot? Or your biggest customer? You cannot avoid this Dragon. There is then only one solution: you must tame the Dragon. And that is what this practical book is about: what you can do when you have an unavoidable Dragon in your environment.

Most people will have someone in their lives who behaves like a Dragon. An annoying, peevish and horrible person that drives you up the wall! His mere presence makes the hairs on the back of your neck stand up. You try your best, but within a few minutes, he's already hurt your feelings. He keeps doing what he always does; the exact thing that annoys you so. You've already given him several hints. You've experimented with different approaches towards him. You've amply discussed the Dragon with others. And yet, nothing changes. Eventually, you switch to a strategy of avoidance.
