Sharing is the new multiplying.
Because we are called Brain Bakery and believe in learning, we have been sharing some of our success with others for years. One of our core values is Always Be Learning. We know from brain science that reading is one of the most powerful ways to learn: you step into other worlds, stories blur differences and give room to dream.

In March, during BrainAwareness Week, we celebrate how special the brain is. The best thing about your brain? When everything works well, you hardly notice you have it. We celebrate that - by doing something good for others.

Where it began - Brain bakery since 2008

For years in Brain Awareness Week, we donated that week' s sales to brain-related charities such as Stop Brain Tumors, MS-related initiatives and other projects that make a real difference.

What we do now: books through the food bank

Research shows that exposure to books in childhood is a strong predictor of success later. That's why we put our energy into reading.
So far, we've given away more than 2,000 books through five local food banks - and we're far from done.

Here's how it works

We choose a local food bank.
We look at where our Brainiacs live so that it is personally meaningful for them to contribute to their own community as well. We ask how many children there are and in what ages.
We put together a book package.
Appropriate to ages and interests - with suggestions from our participants.
We buy local.
We order from a local bookstore, so they too feel the impact.
We deliver at the right time.
The food bank distributes the books when it is convenient for them.

In our trainings we ask: what books do you read to your children now? Or: which book used to impress you? We include those titles in the package for area children.

Home base Jisp: sports & mental well-being

Our headquarters is in Jisp. There we support local youth and their mental well-being viasport. We sponsor the shirts and bags of VV Jisp. And because hardly anyonein Jisp knows us (we work nationwide), we chose a different route:

In agreement with VV Jisp, the Food Bank is on the shirts - not our logo. So you don't see us on the field, but we are there.
