The issue
How do we onboard over 50,000 new employees from more than 80 countries for one of the biggest sporting events in the world? And within three months. How do we ensure that everyone understands their role in this massive organization? That safety and compliance are honored? And that everyone understands the fundamentals of hospitality and can translate them into cultures that are not your own?

The challenge
The new colleagues had several digital devices and spoke several languages. This was their first introduction to work and they were going to work temporarily in the host country with a work visa. We had to make sure everyone was well prepared even before they reached the host country.

The solution
As L&D consultants, we developed a large amount of digital content with the goal of teaching all new employees about the organization, hospitality, the host country, the event , procedures and cultural differences.
To immediately create a sense of engagement with the content and belonging to the event and the organization, we also designed an online platform full of leaderboards, gamification and humor. As a result, participants immediately felt they were part of something bigger - and something cool.
We knew the group was very diverse, so on the platform we first offered five choice questions about favorite athletes and countries. Based on the participants' answers, the online platform was personalized - Netflix style.
The content itself was designed in the style of TikTok - short, powerful and funny. We took into account different cultures, religions and other forms of diversity.
Through the design of the platform and content, participants experienced both a sense of group and recognition of personal differences.

Measurable result
As many as 98% of the participants passed the training. (They had 3 attempts π) In an anonymous test, 93% of participants said they found the training innovative. 97% appreciated the personalization and 92% felt that cultural and religious diversity was well taken into account.
